IN PERSON EXAM DIRECTIONS

Your Master Educator will schedule your Practical Exam. Prior to your assigned exam prepare by following the directons below:

1. Download the attached Mat Classical Exercise Guide.

2. Research by watching videos of classical Pilates teachers demonstrating the traditional order. Observe the transitions between exercises to ensure your session flows smoothly from one exercise to the next. You may use YouTube, Vimeo, Pilates Anytime, or other options.

3. Practice the entire sequence. Determine any necessary modifications or props that may be needed for your client or class level.

4. Using the Classical Order Exercise Guide sequence practice teaching as if you are guiding your student through the full mat program in the traditional order.

  • Start by teaching your student the Basic Set-Up in Supine position, beginning with the Hundred. This lays the foundation for the rest of the session.

  • Clearly call out the name of each exercise as you move through the routine.

  • Teach 5 to 7 repititions of each exercise to allow for cues.

  • Make sure to verbally cue all the bolded cues in your manual.

  • Maintain a smooth flow throughout the class and between exercises.

VIDEO SUBMISSION EXAM DIRECTIONS

For video sumission record yourself teaching a student the full traditional mat program in person. Be sure that all participants in the Mat Class can be seen clearly in the video and the audio is clearly heard.
